DREAMS OF CAKE

I’m Sadie, the owner and founder of The British Baker.  I grew up in the UK and made the moved to Australia when I was 21.

I’ve got fond memories of baking and spending time in the kitchen with my mum and grandma when I was growing up.  It was through time spent in the kitchen with them that I learnt traditional recipes and techniques that I still use to this day.  I’ve taken those traditional recipes and given them my own modern twist, whilst still ensuring flavour is the most important thing! I use local, fresh and seasonal products to create delicious cakes, tarts, biscuits and sweet treats, all inspired by my childhood in the UK.

After moving to Melbourne I found a love for coffee.  Whilst working for a coffee roaster and café I learnt a lot about the preparation and art of making coffee.

When I was 18 my dream of one day opening my own cake shop sparked and after many years of working to gain valuable experience, knowledge and technique, it’s finally time to open the doors to my first cake shop. I completed my pastry training at William Angliss Institute, from there I’ve worked in various hospitality venues, both in kitchen positions and front of house.
